What Email Address Will I Use with Your System?
Anything You Like!
You'll probably want to keep all of your existing addresses and
perhaps take up our offer to register, pay for and setup a .com domain
for you.
You also get an @arrowmail.co.uk or @arrowmail.co address
which is usually required for the internal operation of your account,
but, even though it's a perfectly functional email address, you don't
need to give this out to anyone if you don't want.
You may also want the ability to choose, on an email-by-email
basis, which address each email you send appears to be from. That's easy
to do with our system - see later on this page.
Here are a couple of example of how you could migrate to our system:-
Example 1 - Personal Email Account
Your Current Situation
You have the following email addresses:-
martinjones101@gmail.com
martinajones@ntlworld.com
mjones@holmesengineering.com
The last address is your work email address and your work uses
Exchange 2000 which can't do Direct Push to a SmartPhone and has only
been setup to give access from outside the office by using Outlook Web Access (OWA).
You access your Gmail account using a Web Browser from home or at
work.
You only access your NTL account on your home computer with Outlook
2003.
Your emails consist of 70% work-related and 30% personal.
How You Want your Email to Work
You want emails from all your addresses to come to the same set of Outlook folders
which you want to be able to access at work, at home and when travelling.
Here's What has to be done for you to Migrate to our System
|
` |
2 - |
Let us know, by logging on to the
Customer
Request webform, the POP3 server, username and password details
for your NTL account and we'll then set out servers to check this
account every 15 minutes, download any new emails into your Arrowmail
Inbox and then delete them off the NTL server.
|
3 - |
Because our servers are not responsible for any of your email address
domains, we have to issue you with an Arrowmail address, probably martin.jones@arrowmail.com
This is for routing purposes so, even though it's a perfectly
functional email address, you can choose to completely ignore it.
This will be the address of your Exchange mailbox and we'll let you know the
initial password which you are then free to change.
Use the
Customer Request webform to ask for a different Arrowmail
address if you actually plan to use it and don't like the one we've
assigned to you.
|
4 - |
Get your work's Exchange administrator to set up a new "contact"
in Active Directory for martin.jones@arrowmail.com and then
set your Exchange account to forward all email to mjones@holmesengineering.com
to this contact, which will then send out all your work email to your mailbox on our
servers.
|
5 - |
On your work and home PC setup a new Outlook profile
to use an Outlook Anywhere connection to the Arrowmail Exchange
server. (here's how)
|
6 - |
As you send out the majority of your emails in your work capacity, we
will set your primary email address as
mjones@holmesengineering.com
Use the
Customer Request webform to request a different primary address
if you wish.
You can also setup some dummy POP3 accounts to give a drop-down list in
each new email so you can choose who that email will appear to be from when you don't want it to appear to come from your work
address (here's how)
|
|

|
7 - |
If your work uses a standard "signature", you can set this up in your
Outlook profile to be applied to just those emails you send out from
your work address.
You'll need to setup a signature on every PC you use Outlook on
plus in:-
OWA - Settings. There's additional information you'll need to know about using
different signatures for different accounts
here. |
That's it!
 |
You don't have to tell anyone a new email address. |
 |
All emails from your various addresses will come to your
Inbox so all your email is in one place. |
 |
You can access all your Outlook data from wherever you can get
an Internet connection and the email folders, calendar and contacts
will always be identical and automatically synchronised. |
 |
Our system supports Direct Push email to a SmartPhone. This is
enabled by default so all you need to do is choose your SmartPhone
and mobile data plan. |
 |
You're protected from viruses and have a fail-safe spam
filtering system. |
 |
You can store files on-line in your Web Folders and mapped drive. |
You'll need your work's approval to have all your work email
forwarded to Arrowmail and to change your work PC's Outlook profile.
You won't be able to access your work email system's global contact
list, public folders or shared calendars or see your colleagues'
Free/Busy information in order to arrange meetings (except when you're at work) but, hey, if your work email system
was setup to use all those features, you wouldn't be needing to migrate
to our system.
Example 2 - Small Business Account
Your Current Situation
You currently only have one email address:
johnsmith123@tiscali.com
You've recently started your own company and are finding that a
lot of customers are sending purchase orders and requests for
information via email. Also, a lot of "new business" makes their first
contact with you through an email.
How You Want your Email to Work
You want your company's email system to appear as professional as
possible to your customers and you want to be able read and reply to new
emails quickly wherever you are.
Here's What has to be done for you to Migrate to our System
1 - |
Go to a website where you can confirm that an Internet domain
name, suitable for your business, is available. This is harder than
it sounds as the obvious names are usually already taken..
http://www.easyspace.com
is such a website.
|
2 - |
Sign up for our Standard Exchange Mailbox account for
£5.99/month and let us know the domain name that you've chosen -
let's say mycompany.com
Also use the
Customer Request webform to tell us:-
In whose name you want the domain registering and,
what the main email address is that you want to use, perhaps:-
john.smith@mycompany.com
Any email we receive with mycompany.com to
the right of the @ symbol will be sent to your Inbox (except
for those containing viruses or classified as spam).
For an extra £3/month we'll host your website:
www.mycompany.com
|
3 - |
We'll register this domain for you, in the name you've
chosen, and pay the first 2 years' registration fees.
We'll then create MX records to point email sent to your domain
to our mail-servers.
If we're hosting your website we'll also create a WWW DNS record
to direct requests for your website to our servers.
We'll also create an Exchange mailbox for john.smith@mycompany.com
and Web Folders for on-line file storage. We'll let you know the
initial password which you are then free to change.
|
4 - |
Use the
Customer Request webform to let us know the POP3 server, username and password details for
your Tiscali account and we'll set out servers to
check this account every 15 minutes, download any new emails into your Arrowmail
Inbox and then delete them off the Tiscali server.
|
5 - |
As you send out the majority of your emails in your
work capacity, we will set your primary email address to john.smith@mycompany.com
|
6 - |
On your office PC and laptop you will need to setup a new Outlook profile
to use Outlook Anywhere (here's how)
|
7 - |
Your can make up an unlimited number or email addresses such as
info@ and sales@. Emails sent to these addresses will all come to
your Inbox where you can use Rules to move them to the appropriate
folders. You can setup Outlook to send emails with one of these
alternative addresses as the From address. (here's how)
|
8 - |
Buy a suitable SmartPhone or Pocket PC, capable of Push email
from an Exchange server. We have advice about this
here. Also take out a new mobile data
agreement with your mobile phone provider or incorporate an
allowance for data into your existing contract.
You will need a minimum allowance of 25mb/month.
|
9 - |
Setup your Smartphone to synchronise with your Exchange mailbox.
|
That's it!
 |
An email address that matches your company name gives your
customers a better impression of your company. |
 |
All your email is in one place. |
 |
You can access all your Outlook data from wherever you can get
an Internet connection and the email folders, calendar and contacts
will always be identical and automatically synchronised. |
 |
You can have email Pushed to a Smartphone. |
 |
You're protected from viruses and have a fail-safe spam
filtering system. |
 |
You can store files on-line in your Web Folders and mapped drive. |
 |
If you take on any employees, you can rent extra mailboxes on
our server with an address @mycompany.com and they can
share access, if appropriate, to Public Folders such as one
containing info@mycompany.com emails, company contacts or a
company diary. |
