We Will Register and Setup a Domain Name for you - For Free

The best way to operate your email is to own your own Internet Domain Name such as:- jsconsulting.co.uk
Then you can be:-
john@jsconsulting.co.uk which looks better than:-
john@jsconsulting.freeserve.co.uk or johns77@tiscali.co.uk

The advantages of using your own domain name for email are:-

1 -

It looks more professional.

2 -

It's an email address for life.
As long as you keep up the domain registration renewal payments, which are only a few pounds per year, the domain will remain your intellectual property, and, if you change ISP, you just move your domain hosting to the new ISP.

3 -

You can make up as many email addresses as you want at your domain such as:-
sales@jsconsulting.co.uk
info@jsconsulting.co.uk
accounts@jsconsulting.co.uk

and with a single mailbox account with Arrowmail, all these emails will come to you.
If you have an Arrowmail Group Account, emails to different addresses at your domain will be distributed to the appropriate users in your group.

4 -

Using your own domain name with an Arrowmail Exchange Mailbox means that email comes directly to us from the sending servers, avoiding delays and opportunities to go astray.
It also means that we deal directly with mail-servers trying to send you spam and so we can be more effective in rejecting it.

We know that, for many people, the process of registering their own domain name and setting up the correct DNS records so that emails go to the right place, can be daunting.
So we're offering to do it all for free and pay for the first 2 years' registration.
We use Easyspace as our domain registrar.
Here's how the process works:-

1 -

You go to www.easyspace.co.uk (or any other domain registrar site) and search to make sure that the domain name that you want is not already registered to someone else.
This can be a depressing process as, often, every alternative you can think of has gone.
I suggest lateral thinking, avoid punctuations symbols and try preparing a short list of possibilities and run it past other people.
If you decide on a different top-level domain such as .COM or .ORG.UK then you'll have to pay the difference in price from a .CO.UK domain.

2 -

After you've made your decision and paid your Arrowmail subscription we will register the domain in either your name or your company's name.
The registration certificate will be sent directly to you, the domain will be your intellectual property and, after the initial 2 years registration has finished, you'll be responsible for future renewal payments.

3 -

We will then logon to the Easyspace control panel and create MX record so that emails sent to your domain will come to our servers.
This MX record change can take 24 hours to take effect.

4 -

We will send you the control panel login details.
We'll keep a copy for future use but, if you wish, you can change the control panel password to something only you know.

If you've already registered a domain name, we'll change the MX records for you, if you like, so that email comes directly to our servers.
We'll also setup an SPF DNS record, if your DNS servers support TXT records, which is to conform to an anti-spam initiative and authorises our server to send email on your behalf. There are more details on this here.
Changing these DNS record won't affect any existing websites that you may have on that domain.
You'll need to send us your domain registrar's control panel logon details to allow us to make these changes.
